Share The Love Feedings
TuneDem has gone into the slums of Kibera to identify the most vulnerable communities and provide them with food.
When Covid-19 hit Kenya in March 2020, the government directed its citizens to stay home to reduce the spread of the virus. Due to the measures put in place by the government, businesses suffered and began to lay off workers.
Loss of income means that one is unable to provide the very basic needs of their families. The Foundation quickly began to solicit funds to assist those in the slum areas of Kibera who were most affected by the pandemic.
TuneDem has gone deep into the slums of Kibera to identify the most vulnerable communities and provide them with food in order to help them survive the toughest time of their lives.
Most importantly, they offer them the true source of hope: Jesus. In addition to getting essential family provisions, many recipients have also received Christ as their Savior.
They dubbed this initiative the “Share the Love Food Basket”. As the support started to come in they’ve been able to feed hundreds of families at a time.
Each food basket contains an assortment of essential food items and toiletries costing about Kes. 2,000 (@ USD 20).
They buy in bulk and ration out the supplies in such a way so that each basket can feed an entire family for a week.
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink.”
